t the end of an extensive tour of
Peter Kavoian
and
Ray Winn
’s latest project
– an updated and renovated 19,500-square-foot Reginald Johnson-designed
mansion on five prime acres in Montecito’s Golden Quadrangle –, I asked
Peter why he felt it was necessary to duplicate the extra thickness of the original 1920’s
terra cotta tiles in the house. Peter’s answer was quick and to the point. “Because that is
what I expect of myself, and that’s what a billionaire would expect. Besides,” he says, “I
always want to seek out the
best
in design.”
