pon arrival, we – as are all guests – were greeted with a
complimentary glass of wine, were checked in quickly and
escorted to our room/cabin. Inside, a half-bottle of an excellent pinot
noir greets every guest in every room, along with a plate of cheese and
fruit. Each room has a king-sized featherbed, gas fireplace, private
patio, and views of the nearby Santa Lucia Mountains. The soaps
and sundries one will find in each of the guest rooms are made from
lavender grown on the premises. Other amenities include a two-
person soaking tub, a sofa and upholstered chairs, 42-inch plasma TV,
Nespresso coffee and tea maker, and more.
The Pool
A
h, the pool. It is large and an exhilarating nine feet deep at its
center. Any pool built today is limited to a depth of six feet.
This pool belonged to what had been called Fox Hill, where 7th-
