T
he contractor was doubtful, but he
was the first to say that he loved it – a
reaction not foreign to Reed Interiors
owners Romain and Myriam Doussineau. “Being a
Parisian, I’ve seen very old architecture combined
with contemporary furniture and how beautiful
it looks,” co-owner Myriam says. “You can still
respect the soul and the energy your house
provides while incorporating modern design.”
Husband and business partner Romain, a former
chef, and Myriam, a former global director at
Johnson & Johnson, located to Santa Barbara from
France in 2009. By 2010, they had acquired Reed
Floors, a fraction of the current showroom, and
have since expanded into additional retail space
and a wider spectrum for design. Now known as
Reed Interiors (or “Reed’s” to many Santa Barbara
residents), the business has branched out to
include high-quality floor options (with installation
guaranteed for life), upholstery services, window
treatments, and the most recent addition, kitchen
design. Sourcing globally, the Doussineaus look
to bring distinctive products to Santa Barbara that
are rich in culture and collaborative with Southern
California flavor. “We’ve remodeled every house
we’ve had,” she says with a laugh. “We’ve always
been in the remodeling spirit and we love design.
It’s our common passion.”
