Ashley Waterman &
Michael Anchordoquy
shley Waterman and Michael Anchordoquy were married
on November 17, 2012, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Church in Montecito. The couple, who grew up in the same
neighborhood in Bakersfield, California, met in 1994, the summer before
they both were to attend high school in Carpinteria. But it wasn’t until after
college that they reconnected and fell in love.
After dating a year and a half, Mike proposed in Carpinteria on the same
beach where the couple met 18 years prior. While they were walking along
the shore, Mike told Ashley he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her,
and asked for her hand in marriage. The next morning, the couple attended
Sunday mass at Our Lady Mount Carmel, and, impressed by its elegance and
grandeur, decided to be married in the church.
The bride planned a classic, romantic, and elegant wedding, inviting
150 guests to OLMC, followed by a reception at Montecito Country Club.
Montecito Country Club’s floor-to-ceiling windows and large open fireplace
were the perfect backdrop for a chilly autumn evening. The reception room
was adorned with candlelit mercury glass, and mirrored trumpet vases filled
with white and ivory flowers sat atop the tables. The tables were named after
iconic Santa Barbara street names, displayed by mercury glass cardholders.
The bride wore a Reem Acra-designed dress, with crystal encrusted cap
sleeves. Her bridesmaids wore formal, long gowns, in slate-colored chiffon;
the groomsmen wore black suits with pewter ties, to match. Ashley’s niece,
McKenna, was the flower girl, and her
nephew, Jake, was cast as ring bearer.
The couple will honeymoon this
spring in Bora Bora, staying at an
overwater bungalow at the St. Regis
Resort.
